Fundamental principles of sustainable peaceFundamental principles of sustainable peace’ annual Universal Peace Federation Ukraine conference had been held, on October 21, 2016 in Kyiv, Ukraine.



This time UPF held the conference in cooperation with Ukrainian Peace Council, NGO headed by the First President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk. Among 280 participants of the conference were prominent members of Parliament, NGO leaders and educators. At the beginning beautiful musical greeting was performed by People’s Artist of Ukraine, Ambassador for Peace Natalia Shelepnytska. Opening speech has been given by the Head of Ukrainian Peace Council First President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk.

Fundamental principles of sustainable peace“Together we can build a culture of peace, since its formation is not possible without the joint efforts of all components of society, government and international organizations, public and educational institutions, religious and interfaith institutions and leaders in all spheres of people’s lives” - emphasized Leonid Kravchuk in his speech.

Member of Parliament, Deputy Head of Parliament committee on culture and spirituality Victor Yelenskyy talk on Interreligious harmony as a way to build sustainable peace. Former Minister of Education, Head of the Kyiv National Polytechnic University Mykhailo Zgurovsky explained about Science and technology as components of sustainable peace. From UPF side speeches has been given by the Head of UPF Eurasia Dr. Katsumi Otsuka and Head of UPF Austria Peter Haider.

Fundamental principles of sustainable peaceIn his speech Dr. Katsumi Otsuka talked about Solutions to global problems. He mentioned 3 steps in solving the world’s problems. “...In order to fulfil it we need  investing our life for the sake of others. People who put their family ahead of themselves, their nations ahead of their family, the world ahead of their nation they will stand as the a standard of example of goodness”, said Mr. Otsuka.

9 new Ambassador for Peace has been appointed. Among them the Head of Women Council of Ukraine Ludmila Porkhniak-Ganovs’ka, Former Minister of Education Mykhailo Zgurovsky, Member of Parliament Victor Yelenskyy and others.

Fundamental principles of sustainable peaceAll participants was very inspired by elevated atmosphere of the conference. Many of them shared that they saw many good ideas and solutions in addresses of the conference speakers, and expressed the desire to participate in UPF activities.

At the end the conference all participants proclaimed the conference Resolution which emphasises the importance of culture of peace in Ukraine and in the world.
