On November 18, 2015 at the Kyiv City Teacher's House, was held two related events. First, it was the Second Congress of the Junior Ambassadors for Peace "Every Each One for Peace!" The second event was international conference "Youth Education as the Key to a New Leadership Paradigm."
Young peacemakers from Kyiv’s schools packed the hall. It was very nice to see responsible approach to the adopted decisions: not just vote and forget, but each participant showed determination to practice common decisions. They are truly youth leaders who will continue to develop various peacekeeping activities in their schools.
Junior Ambassadors for Peace are trained by School of Peace, a project that was initiated last year by Kyiv specialized school #85, whose Principal Tatiana Fedunova headed social movement "Children as the Ambassadors of Peace." Young ambassadors solemnly and poetically presented their activities in front of all. Twice as nice that schoolkids are doing it not because it is directed from above, not formally, not for a check, but indeed their hearts tell them to do so. School of Peace will continue to work in year 2015 and 2016.
Then, participants of the congress joined the next event - an international conference that brought together more than 250 people. The theme of the event was "Youth Education as the Key to a New Leadership Paradigm." It is young people, schoolchildren and university students made this event wonderful. In Ukraine there is a whole constellation of Ambassadors for Peace, they are all respected and honored people, but one could feel that they want to see hope for the future and finally it is here! More than a hundred young, active and promising peacemakers, eighteen of which became Junior Ambassadors for Peace, and ten - Youth Ambassadors for Peace.
КThe conference was honored by the presence of distinguished guests: Elena Fidanyan – Director of the Education, Youth and Sports Department of Kyiv City, Galina Naumenko – diplomat and protocolist, Vasyl Kostytsky – Doctor of Law, a member of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Chairman of the UPF Mykhailo Ilin together with Galina Naumenko awarded this time eleven state and public figures with the honorary title Ambassador for Peace, including the cardiologist from the Institute of Family Medicine "Plus", Said Sallam - a Palestinian from Syria. By the way, his son also received the title of Ambassador for Peace, only Junior.
The Conference adopted a resolution; participants spoke of the importance of joint participation of parents, teachers and NGOs in the education process of young people, and decided to establish training programs on responsible parenthood in secondary schools.
The conference ended with spectacular performance by ensemble "Dnipro". Indeed, the Ukrainian art has the power to create peace in the hearts of men!
